”When you find yourself stressed, ask yourself one question: Will this matter in five years from now? If yes, then do something about the situation. If no, then let it go.

I miss my dog Solex. Five good things about Solex: 1. She had an overbite that you wouldn’t notice until she pointed her nose up to howl, then it was apparent her bottom jaw is like 3 inches too short. 2. She would climb the tree that hung over my fence until someone would walk down the sidewalk and she would wait (til you see the whites of thurr eyes!) until the last possible second when their ear was an inch from her mouth and bark like she was insane. I imagine she kept a straight face until that night when she’d laugh to herself in an eery human way remembering how TERRIFIED she had made our neighbors. 3. The night Stuart took her hiking in the mountains and she chased a moose all night; as though she would have known what to do if she’d caught him. And then Stu waking me up at 5 am saying my dog was lost and he’d been looking for her all night, so we drove up the canyon and found her sitting in the road, like 10 MILES from where she got lost and she was crying and wagging her tail so hard I thought she would fall over. 4. She didn’t know any tricks. I thought she knew how to sit but if you yell “Sit!” at a dog enough times in succession, eventually she will just sit out of pure boredom. 5. She’s one of those dogs who has no sense of anything and will like stand on the coffee table or walk on your face. Ha I love when dogs walk on your face, it’s like WOW you really just don’t give a shit do you?! It’s admirable.
